Frequently asked questions

Others have asked:

Question: I have never woven before, how hard is it to learn?

Answer: Full disclosure: The setup can feel daunting, but we help you every step of the way. You can also sign up for a project that is already set up (Table runner project). Our beginners have been able to make beautiful custom designed fabric, and you could be next!

Question: When are you open?

Answer: We are open by appointment. We make appointments in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and some Saturdays to fit your schedule. Once you are signed up for a project, you can also participate in multiple sessions per week to make faster progress. We ask that you come at least once per week, and set aside at least 2-4 hours to work on your project. Your loom is reserved for your project until you complete it.

Question: How much are the materials?

Answer: We recently changed our pricing model to include the materials. That way, we can help you calculate your yarn needs, help you order them, and you will be able to make your piece knowing you have already paid for the materials.

Question: Do you offer classes for children?

Answer: Yes! We have an introduction to weaving class ($80) that meets once per week for one hour at a time. We currently have two different classes, but we can start more. Class sizes are kept small to give individual attention. We also have a tapestries class ($100) for those who want to start on a frame loom. That class meets for 1.5 hours per week. The cost includes 4 weeks of instruction. You can sign up for multiple sessions to keep working on your weaving skills.

Question: What are some projects I can choose from?

Answer: We do our best to help you create the project of your dreams. Some standard choices include beginner shawls, where you make two shawls in different techniques, rag rug weaving, table runner, and baby wrap. We also offer a loom dressing intensive where you can participate in setting up a project, if that is all you are looking for. If you want to schedule a planning workshop before you decide what project you want to make, that will give you a credit towards a weaving class later. If you want to crochet a basket, we have a class for that as well!
