TASTE OF WEAVING - KUKKOLADRÄLL TABLE RUNNER

  • 5 Days

About

This program is designed for those who want to get a taste of weaving without the time commitment of creating an entire project from start to finish. Students will weave a Kukkoladräll table runner on a shared loom. Once one participant finishes weaving and cuts off their runner, the next participant begins. The program will begin once at least two participants have signed up for this pattern. At that time we will order the materials and prepare the warp. Participation in the loom setup is optional. Participants schedule their weaving times with the studio. Before the warp is prepared, you will decide how long you would like your runner to be so we can plan the warp accordingly. Partner Credit Recruit a friend and you will both receive a $50 partner credit ($50 off registration). Contact us if you want to sign up together. About Kukkoladräll Kukkoladräll is a traditional weaving pattern from northern Sweden and Finland. It produces small geometric motifs that seem to float on the surface of the fabric, giving the cloth a richly textured appearance. The technique has long been used for beautiful and durable household textiles such as table runners and towels. As you weave, the pattern gradually appears row by row, revealing the distinctive character that has made Kukkoladräll a favorite in Scandinavian weaving traditions.
